Textured Ti
February 27th, 2008 HughI have been working on Nick’s ti 29er. Time for the ghost flames! The bead blasting gives the frame a really cool matte yet glittery appearance.
You will have to go to the show to see the final finish!

I just polished up this stainless steel maple leaf. It is so bright I can’t seem to take a clear picture. The leaf is silver brazed on to the head tube of a lugged city fixie frame.
I started with this waterjet cut blank.
I have always wanted to build a tool chest. A number of years ago Ian’s ( my brother ) tool box was liberated from the workshop here at TN. I could have bought one but thought I could build a much cooler piece. The main frame is 1 inch steel tubing painted with Pepsi Blue Imron. The drawer frames are made from 1.5 inch steel angle. The sides are Oak veneer plywood and the drawer fronts solid beech. I still have to come up with some form of drawer pulls.
I am working on a couple of cool bikes now. First is Nics Ti 29er frame. It is turning out perfectly.
I am also working on an interesting frame/bike for the Toronto International Bike Show. It will be based on 650B size wheels, disc brakes, and an eccentric BB. The EBB allows the bike to very versatile. It can be setup singlespeed or fixed, geared or internally geared. The EBB allows a person to tension the chain without having to move the wheel position wrt the fenders and disc brake.
