This custom steel road bike is built around long reach caliper brakes with lots of room for 700×32C tires. The owner will be commuting into Guelph with the bike as well as road riding, so we’ve set the bike up with two sets of wheels - Ultegra SL wheels for road riding, and handbuilt wheels using DT Swiss TK 7.1 trekking rims, DT Competition Spokes and 36H Ultegra hubs for gravel road and commuter riding. The bike is built up with Ultegra SL, Shimano long reach calipers, Selle Italia Flight GelFlow saddle, Salsa 46cm Pro Road Handlears and a Chris King Headset.

Here is one for you, Phil: this road bike is built around long reach caliper brakes and room for 35C tires or more. The owner has back problems, so the frame is build with a lot of head tube extension to get the bars higher without loosing stand over clearance. The frame is titanium with curved seatstays for a softer ride. Between the Ti frame and the 30C tires, the ride will be smooth without compromising drive train stiffness. With a full Ultegra SL build and a full carbon Alpha Q CS25 fork, the bike is very light. We are using Schwalbe’s 700×30C folding bead Marathon Racer tires, which are light and fast.

This is the third in a string of beautiful custom road bikes this week. This bike is a custom titanium frame with shaped, butted tubes and a carbon fiber rear triangle. The front triangle is painted a rich candy orange. The True North logo on the downtube is masked in the paint, revealing the underlying titanium. The bike is build up with Campagnolo Chorus parts and Campy Eurus wheels.

This custom road bicycle has a Columbus Spirit steel frame and an Ultegra SL build. The crank in the pictures is a loaner as the Ultegra cranks are back ordered. The gray SL crank will match the paint job a lot better! The paint is a metallic maroon fading to a metallic charcoal that has been matched to the Ultegra SL ice gray.
